COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course will be divided into three phases:
Regular Course – Level 1
7 – 12 July (teacher: Luciano Acocella)
Master Course – Level 2
Period I: 14 – 19 July (teacher: Daniele Gatti / co-teacher: Luciano Acocella)
Period II: 21 – 27 July (teacher: Daniele Gatti / co-teacher: Luciano Acocella)
At the end of each period, the following final concerts will take place within the Chigiana International Festival 2026:
12 July: Final concert of the Level 1 Regular Course (Teatro dei Rinnovati)
19 July: Final concert of the Level 2 Master Course – Period I (Piazza del Campo)
27 July: Final concert of the Level 2 Master Course – Period II (Teatro dei Rinnovati).
ADMISSION Candidates must pass two stages:
1) evaluation of qualifications and video documentation (after 15 May)
2) practical test with orchestra

For this first selection, the following must be sent to the Chigiana Academy by 15 May: academic and artistic qualifications demonstrating the level of study and conducting activity, a high-quality video recorded within the last three years (minimum duration 20 minutes with complete pieces), indicating date and place of recording, and a photograph. All data must be summarized in the summary sheet attached to the application form. The €28 evaluation fee must also be paid.
The Academy will inform all candidates of the result of this first stage.
2) practical test with orchestra
The live practical test with the Orchestra Fondazione Luciano Pavarotti in residence will take place on 7 July at 10:30 am.
To be admitted to the test, the €68 application fee must already have been paid.
Candidates must prepare the following repertoire:
Mendelssohn The Hebrides Overture
Mendelssohn Symphony No. 3 in A minor op. 56 “Scottish”
A single selection will determine admission to the full course (Regular + Master).

Outstanding students may be recommended to partner orchestras and institutions for future collaborations.
Applicants who already applied in previous years may submit only updated documentation.
