David Krakauer is internationally acclaimed both as an innovator of modern klezmer music and as an important voice in the classical repertoire. In addition to performing with his ensemble “Ancestral Groove”, he appears regularly in solo concerts, multi-genre projects and collaborations with internationally renowned groups, composers and artists. His discography has received important awards such as the Diapason D’Or, the Album of the Year Award for the jazz section, and a Grammy nomination. In addition to his concert activity, he maintains an intense teaching activity. Since 1990, he teaches clarinet and chamber music at the Manhattan School of Music, Mannes College of Music (New School), Bard College Conservatory of Music and New York University. He has given countless workshops and masterclasses around the world, most notably at Carnegie Hall and UCLA, working with students from the jazz department and the renowned Thelonious Monk Institute.
He teaches at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana since 2016.
