DAVID KRAKAUER and KATHLEEN TAGG
professors
5 AUGUST – 11 AUGUST

GENERAL INFORMATION
The course led by David Krakauer and Kathleen Tagg is a unique opportunity to explore new paths of artistic expression.
Taught by David Krakauer, a Grammy-nominated, internationally renowned classical/world music artist, and by the acclaimed pianist, composer, and producer Kathleen Tagg, the course is designed to help musicians (all genres are welcome) broaden their horizons by developing ensemble performance skills as well as expanding concepts of multifaceted programming.
The ultimate goal of the course is to help participants discover their own unique voice, both as soloists and as ensemble musicians.
The course is open to solo musicians and ensembles (classical music, jazz, and world music).
David Krakauer will be joined in teaching by his long-time collaborator Kathleen Tagg, whose compositions have been commissioned by renowned soprano Golda Schultz, the Pierre Boulez Saal, and the Stellenbosch Chamber Music Festival in South Africa. In addition to co-composing a clarinet concerto, a film score, and other large-scale works, Krakauer & Tagg have developed a highly personal, cross-genre artistic approach incorporating multimedia, electronics, and improvisation. They have appeared together on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Pierre Boulez Saal in Berlin, the Ars Musica Festival in Brussels, Carnegie Hall in New York City, and the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris.
Ensembles that have been established for at least one year may benefit from the tuition fee reductions reserved for them.
