GENERAL INFORMATION AND ADMISSION EXAM
The course is open to solo percussionists and percussion ensembles (up to quartet).

For the admission exam, candidates must present the following:

Solo percussionists: a program of approximately twenty minutes including significant works from the twentieth-century repertoire for solo percussion.

Percussion ensembles (up to quartet): a program of approximately twenty minutes including significant works from the twentieth-century repertoire for percussion ensemble.

The selected repertoire must be indicated in advance on the application form.

For the admission exams, the Chigiana Academy provides the following percussion instruments:

1 marimba (5 octaves)
1 marimba (4⅓ octaves)
1 vibraphone
1 xylophone
1 glockenspiel
2 pairs of bongos
2 tam-tams
3 suspended cymbals
1 djembe
1 sabar
1 pedal bass drum
1 tenor drum
1 snare drum
2 symphonic bass drums
5 wood blocks
2 octaves of crotales
6 tom-toms
2 congas
2 tambourines
2 triangles

REPERTOIRE

The course includes daily lessons divided into two parts: one dedicated to instrumental techniques in twentieth-century percussion literature and the other to the preparation of solo and chamber works by composers including:

These compositions will be performed during the Chigiana International Festival 2026.
