COURSE DESCRIPTION AND ADMISSIONS

The course will be structured in two parts: the Level 1 – Ordinary Course and the Level 2 – Master Course with an Opera Workshop on excerpts of works by Giuseppe Verdi (“La forza del destino”, ouverture, “La traviata” [act II*], “Rigoletto” [act III], “Falstaff” [act III, scene I and final fugue], ed. Ricordi).

The opera performances, in collaboration with the Academy of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, will take place on Monday 31 July and Tuesday 1 August at the Teatro dei Rinnovati.

*until the end of Germont’s Scene and Aria (scene 7 excluded)

ADMISSION


For admission to the course, all candidates must pass two eliminatory tests:
1)      evaluation of titles and video documentation (after 15 May)

2)      practical test with the orchestra

 

  1. For the first selection the following must be sent to the academy by May 15th:

– academic and artistic titles (diplomas), and educational and artistic qualifications proving the degree of studies achieved and directorial activity already started;

– a video (YouTube, Vimeo and other digital platforms, as well as private videos) of good quality made in the last three years at least 20 minutes in length (with the date and place of recording listed), a photograph of the candidate.

All accompanying information must be included in this summary form to be filled out and attached to the online application.
The relative fee for the evaluation of qualifications of € 28 must be received by the Accademia before the deadline.

For students who have already applied to the course in previous years, it will be sufficient to send only the updated documentation in the “personal data” section of the online enrollment form.

The Student Secretariat will communicate the result of this first test to all candidates.

2. practical test with the orchestra

The live practical test with the Senzaspine Orchestra in residence will be carried out on the first day of the course. To be admitted to this examination, candidates must pay the admission fee of €68.

For the practical test candidates should present the following repertoire:

The selection of candidates for attendance in each component of the course (Ordinary Course, Master Course, Opera Laboratory) will be based only on this procedure.

The best students of the course, selected by the teachers, will be communicated to: the ORT – Orchestra della Toscana, OPV – Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, Fondazione Toscanini di Parma, Teatro Massimo di Palermo and Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo and Orchestra Sinfonica 131 della Basilicata, for potential future collaborations.
